Recording Corona: A Recording of Quarantine Experiences in the Midwest
COVID-19 turned our worlds upside-down, changing how we work, shop, socialize, and show love to family and friends. Because most of this deep shift took place individually, quietly, and alone in our homes, Elaine Schleiffer, a local community organizer, wanted to create a capsule of life experiences when the pandemic hit the U.S. in Spring 2020. She partnered with Lou Barrett to create Recording Corona, a blog for people to share their stories and insights. This anthology is a printed collection of those posts, all of which came from people in the Midwest, primarily from Cleveland. They span a variety of experiences; queer folks, single and partnered people, employed people and those laid off due to the pandemic, and many more. We hope that in reading this collection you feel a sense of solidarity based on your own experiences.
All profits will go to Black Lives Matter Cleveland.
Recording Corona is a product of Violet Quill Books, a new division of Purpled Palm Press, which focuses on books that highlight a community project, local entertainment, or other group that centers people who deal with some form of social oppression.
